Tennis - Greek tennis star Maria Sakkari says she and countryman Stefanos Tsitsipas are just good friends and are not dating. The two players have been rumoured to be dating since they played at the Hopman Cup and are often seen cheering for each other at common tournaments.
Speaking at Wimbledon, Sakkari says, "No, we are not together. We are good friends, we know each other for many years. We have empathy from both sides. I know Stefanos from really early. You could tell that from the age of 15-16, he is going to be really good."
Sakkari and Tsitsipas know each other from when they were much younger. and tennis runs in their families Their mothers were both tennis players - Sakkari's mother Angeliki Kanellopoulou was a Top 50 player during the 1980s.
Tsitsipas' mother Julia Apostoli was a junior World No. 1 while his father also played tennis and later became a linesman and it was during his time as a linesman that he met Apostoli.
