Tennis - Canadians Eugenie Bouchard and Vasek Pospisil will be returning to the Odlum Brown Vancouver Open next month. Bouchard is currently ranked No. 95 in the world and will be playing in the tournament for the second year in a row after having reached the quarter-finals in 2018.

Pospisil is a former Wimbledon doubles champ and has been as high as No. 25 in the singles rankings. He underwent back surgery in January and played his first tournament of the year at Wimbledon where he lost to countryman Felix Auger Aliassime in the first round.

He is now ranked No. 186 in the world. Bouchard recently lost in the first round of Wimbledon as well. She has won 6 matches in 11 tournaments this season. The field will also include two other top Canadians Rebecca Marino, of Vancouver, and Brayden Schnur, of Ontario.

Odlum Brown VanOpen tournament director Rik de Voest commented, “It is fantastic news to have Rebecca, Genie, Vasek and Brayden returning to our tournament. All four players played our event last year and contributed to us having sellout crowds.

It is extremely rare to have some of the top Canadian men’s and women’s tennis players compete on the same court on the same day, and we are thrilled to provide it to tennis fans in Vancouver. This is shaping up to be another fabulous year for the Odlum Brown VanOpen and I encourage fans to get tickets early, so they don’t miss out on their favourite players”.
