Juan Martin del Potro's season is ended. The Argentinean player withdrew from the Stockholm and Vienna tournaments that were supposed to mark his return on Tour after a four-month absence. Del Potro last played a competitive match at Queen's after suffering a knee fracture on grass against Denis Shapovalov.
He just played 12 matches this year as he started his season in late February at the Delray Beach Open. We will see where del Potro will start the new season. At the moment, Delray Beach is the only tournament confirmed by the Tandil native for 2020.
On November 20 Del Potro will play an exhibition match with Roger Federer in Buenos Aires. The statement said: "Juan Martin del Potro visited the Mapfre de Mecidina del Tenis Clinic in Barcelona. After some tests, including on-court exercises supervised by Dr.
Angel Ruiz Cotorro, the right knee was shown great signs of a solid recovery. Now they will be able to take the next step in the recovery stage and create a rehabilitation program that is more intense with the goal to make Juan Martin competing again as soon as possible.
Despite Juan Martin's wishes, he has been recommended not to compete in October and continue with the current plan."
