The organizers of the WTA Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart have announced that four top 10 women have committed to playing the tournament in 2020. Making the announcement on their Twitter account, the organizers announced that Czech woman Petra Kvitova will return to defend her title alongside Wimbledon champion Simona Halep, Ukraine's Elina Svitolina, who reached the finals at the WTA Finals this year, and Swiss Belinda Bencic, ranked No.
8 in the world. The tournament is the oldest women's indoor tournament in Europe being held since 1978. As of 2009, it has become a Premier event on the WTA calendar. The winner of the tournament also receives a Porsche sports car along with the trophy and prize money.
The tournament is a big favorite with the players, being voted as the Favourite Premier Tournament on several occasions - 2007, 2008, 2010–2012, 2014–2017. Last year, Kvitova defeated Estonia's Anett Kontaveit in the singles final while Germans Mona Barthel / Anna-Lena Friedsam won the doubles title.
Organizers will announce more player commitments in the coming weeks. The 2020 tournament will be played from18 April to 26 April 2020 at the Porsche Arena, Stuttgart.
