Former World No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov, of Bulgaria, has confirmed that he will participate in the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in February 2020 - his eighth appearance at the tournament, according to the Tournament Website.
Dimitrov first played in Rotterdam as a 17-year-old in 2009. The tournament dates are from February 8th to February 16th, 2020. Tournament Director Richard Krajicek commented on Dimitrov's appearance, "Grigor Dimitrov and the tournament have a special relationship.
He made his debut in 2009, it was one of the first chances to prove himself at ATP level as a top talent with us. He likes coming here. He is eager to win the title, especially after he reached the final in 2018. Moreover, it is one of the favorite players in Rotterdam, so it is great that he will be there again”.
In his 2009 debut as World No. 478, Dimitrov defeated Tomas Berdych in the first round, before losing to Rafael Nadal in the second round in three sets. In his seven appearances in the tournament, his best result has been reaching the final in 2018, where he lost to Roger Federer.
Dimitrov has won 8 ATP titles in his career so far, the biggest of them being the 2017 season-ending ATP Nitto Finals. He ended 2019 in good form, reaching the semi-finals of the US Open and the Paris Masters. Other players to have confirmed for the event next year include Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Gael Monfils, David Goffin, Denis Shapovalov, Stan Wawrinka and Jannik Sinner.
