Brazil's Thiago Monteiro says his goal for the 2020 season is to be in the Top 60 of the ATP world rankings consistently throughout the year. According to TenisBrasil, the top ranked Brazilian Monteiro says, "I had a good 2019, I settled in the top 100 which helps me a lot in terms of timing and the goal is to keep evolving and aiming to be in the Top 60 throughout the year.
I was able to have a very rewarding new experience with Interclubs playing for San Lorenzo, which gave me a rhythm of play, as well as the importance it had there, with very motivated people cheering and supporting the teams.
I am going with everything to get started in 2020." The 25 year old Brazilian won 3 ATP Challengers in 2019 and is currently ranked No. 89 in the world. He begins his 2020 campaign at the ATP 250 event in Doha, followed by the ATP 250 event in Auckland and the Australian Open Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne.
He will then embark on the South American clay-court circuit and will play events in Cordoba, Buenos Aires, the Rio Open and the new ATP event in Santiago. Speaking about his pre-season training ahead of the Australian circuit, Monteiro says, "It was a very good preseason, much better than last year.
I was able to have good practice in those four weeks I was in Argentina, with many good and different players." Monteiro has won 4 ATP Challenger titles and 5 ITF Futures titles throughout his career so far.
