Former French Open and Australian Open champion Li Na has purchased a Hudson Yards apartment in New York for $10.6 million from William Dalessandro, according to The Real Deal website. Dalessandro had bought the 2,335 square-foot unit on the 80th floor for $8.712 million, or about $3,731 per square foot and sold it to the Chinese superstar for $10.6 million, or about $4,540 per square foot, for a roughly 22 percent gain.
The sale was closed on December 20th 2019. The condo has three bedrooms and is situated on the 80th floor. It faces south and east with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The Chinese superstar also owns a property in Boston. Li Na achieved a career-high WTA ranking of world No.
2 in February 2014. Li won nine WTA Tour singles titles including two Grand Slam singles titles at the 2011 French Open and 2014 Australian Open - becoming the first Asian player to win a Grand Slam singles title. Li was also the runner-up at the 2013 Australian Open and 2013 WTA Tour Championships.
Li Na's success has led to a rapid growth of tennis in China and Asia. She retired from professional tennis in September 2014, at the age of 32 and was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, becoming the first Asian-born player to receive this honor.
Li Na married her now husband Jiang Shan in January 2006 and the couple had their first their daughter Alisa in June 2015.
