One of the the most good looking couples in tennis - Italy's Matteo Berrettini and Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic - stepped out together at the Citi Taste of Tennis Event in Melbourne on Thursday night. The duo were special guests at the culinary event ahead of the Australian Open, which starts in Melbourne on Monday.
The two have been dating since last September when Tomljanovic was spotted cheering on the Italian at the US Open in New York. Speaking of Tomljanovic in November, Berrettini had said, "Ajla has a good soul; I would even say pure, and that I had to find out step by step."
Seeded No. 8 at the Australian Open, the Italian Berrettini plays Australian Andrew Harris in the first round of the men's singles event in Melbourne. Tomljanovic plays 31st seeded Anastasija Sevastova, of Latvia, in the first round of the women's singles event.
Last year, both the players had lost in the first round of the tournament and they would be hoping to go one better in 2020. The event organizers had announced that all Citi Taste of Tennis Melbourne ticket proceeds will be donated to the World Central Kitchen in support of the Australia bushfire relief.
The Australian Open gets underway in Melbourne on Monday 20th January and runs through till February 2nd. Berrettini has not played any matches this year heading into Melbourne while Tomljanovic reached the second round in both Brisbane and Adelaide. The schedule for the first round matches at the Australian Open will be released over the weekend.
