Nick Kyrgios smashed his racket in the match against Rafael Nadal!

Nick Kyrgios was unable to defeat Rafael Nadal on the Rod Laver Arena in front of his home-crowd. Nadal defeated his rival in four sets with the final score of 6-3 3-6 7-6 (6) 7-6 (4), in 3 hours and 42 minutes of game. In the third set tie-break, Kyrgios smashed his racquet after sending the ball on the net during a game exchange with Nadal, when the tie-break score was 2-1 for the Spaniard.

The Australian then tried to give the broken racket to a fan in the stands of the Rod Laver Arena, but the fan was unable to catch it when Kyrgios threw it! Before the match, Nick Kyrgios' tribute to Kobe Bryant, legend of the Los Angeles Lakers baskeball team, who died yesterday with his daughter and other seven people following a helicopter accident near Los Angeles hills.

Kyrgios wore Kobe's number 8 shirt in tears when he entered the court. In the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2020 Rafael Nadal will meet Dominic Thiem.
