A fan has won a luxury car at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Saturday as part of a lucky draw, according to Khaleej Times. The winning ticket was drawn by World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, of Serbia, who won the final on Saturday over Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas to win the Dubai title for the fifth time in his career.
The fan is Syed N.S.Y, who has been a resident of Dubai for 30 years now, and who bought his winning ticket at the Tennis Village during the WTA semi-finals of the tournament. Syed will be driving away a brand new car after his ticket number 1070 in Series 1748 was picked as lucky winner of a BMW 750Li xDrive M Sport (Mineral White) vehicle.
He comes from the Indian city of Chennai, India, owns a cargo business in Dubai and started participating at the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise promotion four months ago. Syed commented on the news, "Wow! What a great news to start the first day of the month - thank you so much Dubai Duty Free for this wonderful surprise." Djokovic was accompanied at the draw by Dubai Duty Free's Chief Operating Officer, Ramesh Cidambi and Sinead El Sibai, Senior Vice President - Marketing.
The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Surprise promotion was held throughout the event running from 17th - 29th February. Djokovic beat Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-4 to win his fifth Dubai title on Saturday, one day after saving three consecutive match points to beat Gael Monfils in the semi-finals.
