Naomi Osaka clings on to memory lane as Coronavirus stops play

Naomi Osaka has been passing ordinary days after the mass grounding of global sports events including tennis to avoid mass gatherings which could ramp up spreading of the contagion. Osaka went back through memory lane on Instagram recalling a meet with Lebron saying, “NBA’s suspended but at least I got the memories of this pic to fall back on.

I title this “Lebron’s getting jiggy with it” lol”. Naomi last played a WTA match on February 7th while she had been defeated by Sara Sorribes 6-0, 6-3 in the Rubber One of the Fed Cup. The Fed Cup finals in Hungary have long been postponed.

The WTA Tour that had said it was seeing the situation globally finally announced on 16th March that it was closing the Tour up to 2nd May. Previously, the WTA was criticised after failing to announce immediate closing of the tour when on 12th March, the ATP and ITF announced that they were shutting down all events mandated by them up to 20th April.
