Naomi Osaka on Olympics: Disappointed But We'll All Be Ready to go Stronger in 2021

Japan's Naomi Osaka has posted a message to her fans online with regards to the decision of the International Olympic Committee to delay the Tokyo Olympics to 2021. Osaka is a huge superstar in Japan after winning two Grand Slams and was considered one of the favourites for the singles gold medal.

In the post, she says she agrees with the decision of to delay the Olympics and asks everyone to stay safe and be strong during this difficult time. "Everyone knows how much the Olympics mean to me and how proud I am to represent my country.

Of course, this will not happen this year, but in 2021 we will be stronger. I support the bold decision of Minister Abe and the International Olympic Committee. Sport will reunite us and always be with us, but its time is not now.

Now is the time for people from all countries, from all backgrounds and races, to come together and save lives. This is the Olympic spirit. To the people of Japan, stay strong and let us show the world our beautiful country in 2021.

Take care, take care of one another, show empathy, and we will be able to overcome this."
