Former World no. 5 Eugenie Bouchard has said that the movie that is based over her now famous date that was the result of a tweet she posted during the Super Bowl 2017 is still under works and that she has been in touch with the film's producers on the same.
Eugenie Bouchard on the movie about her famous SuperBowl date
For those who are not aware of the background story, during the 2017 Super Bowl event, Bouchard posted a message on Twitter that the Atlanta Falcons would win to which a fellow Twitter user, John Goehrke, said that the New England Patriots would make a comeback and that if they did Bouchard would on a date with him.
The Patriots did manage to make a comeback and Bouchard kept her word and the two went on a date. They went out on a few dates after that as well and event attended the 2018 Super Bowl together.
if patriots win we go on a date? — John Goehrke (@punslayintwoods) February 6, 2017
Go to school in Missouri. We can go on a date where ever you want! 😜 — John Goehrke (@punslayintwoods) February 6, 2017
Earlier this year, it was reported that Fox 2000 had picked up the rights of the film based on the event and Bouchard has been working with the team on the same as well.
This keeps getting better.
As per the Tennis.com website, Bouchard says, "We went to so many meetings in L.A. and things like that. So I was kind of involved in the process. Obviously, it's more credible and things like that. It really happened to me and to make it as kind of realistic as possible.
We have a script. They're going to start trying to get actors attached to it. I can't believe this is real. They want to make a movie about something that happened to me. I'm just in shock." The Canadian added that progress on the movie has slowed down due to the pandemic and there is no fixed release date for the same.
Bouchard is currently ranked No. 272 in the world and she played the WTA event in Prague earlier this month where she reached the quarter-finals. Due to her low ranking, she has not qualified for the Western & Southern Open and the US Open in New York.
The 26 year old Canadian is trying to resurrect her career that saw her peak at No. 5 in the world and also reach the 2014 Wimbledon finals. She has started working with former World No. 1 doubles player Rennae Stubbs and has been training in recent months with Gil Reyes, the former strength and conditioning coach of Andre Agassi as well.
Eugenie Bouchard also said that she had spoken to Agassi and his wife Steffi Graf while she was training in Vegas and the two, along with Reyes, have been a great source of and help to her.
