Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi look back at their careers

Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi are one of the most prominent couples in the tennis world. Graf has won 22 Grand slams while her husband Andre Agassi has won eight Grand slam titles. Recently, Graf and Agassi were invitees at the 18th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, an event held by the Indian newspaper Hindustan Times.

Speaking to renowned Indian journalist Ayaz Memon, Graf and Agassi said that it is not that easy to hold a trophy. They struggled a lot for every win in the championship they played.

Andre Agassi said, "It might look like a beautiful bed of roses because you're holding a trophy, but the pain and suffering that goes into it creates the same anxieties in all of us." Furthermore, Agassi also said, "I felt like my lack of choice, being forced into tennis at a young age and out of school, left me very disconnected with my life."

Education plays an important role in the life of a tennis player, according to Graf and Agassi. They wish to create a lot of options and opportunities for the school children with the help of the Agassi Charitable foundation.

While the former women's world no. 1 has retired from tennis entirely, Agassi has made select forays back into the sport in a coaching role. He briefly coached world no. 1 Novak Djokovic, joining his team in 2017. Later, after going separate ways with the Serbian in 2018, Agassi joined former world no.

3 Grigor Dimitrov's coaching camp later in the same year. Despite taking up coaching responsibilities, Agassi has often said that his primary focus was his foundation. Steffi Graf's record of 22 Grand Slams was first equalled and then broken by Serena Williams at the 2016 Wimbledon and 2017 Australian Open respectively.

The German completed the Golden Slam in 1988. She won all four Majors that year and also took the gold at the Seoul Olympics. Andre Agassi completed the Grand Slam by winning his fourth Slam at the 1999 French Open. The American had also previously won the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Agassi and Graf have been married to each other since 2001.
