Juan Martin del Potro remembers his father

These are not easy months for Juan Martín del Potro. The Argentinian has lost one of the most important pillars of his life, his father Horacio. The tennis player originally from Tandil wrote an emotional letter on social networks to remember his father who at the age of 64 flew to the sky, following heart problems.

In December he had undergone very delicate heart surgery and his health was frail. Recently he had been admitted to a private clinic in the city of Buenos Aires. Veterinarian by profession, Daniel, married to Patricia Lucas and father of Julieta (Juan Martín's younger sister), has always kept a very low profile.

Furthermore, in Tandil, those who do not belong to the world of tennis practically did not know his face.

This is the content of the message that Juan Martin Del Potro wanted to share on his Instagram profile to remember his father: "You left us here with a broken heart, but we know you're resting in peace as you deserve.

Now you have joined your other angel, and I ask you to please take care of us and guide mom, sister and me from heaven. You are our one and only true champion. Thank you for educating me with values, with honesty, with sacrifice and for doing the impossible to realize the dream of playing tennis.

Your biggest trophy you've ever won is for forming and protecting this family. I don't know how I will live without your presence, but I will surely apply everything you have taught me to never give up on life's difficulties.

I LOVE YOU PA !!!" When Del Potro talks about an angel in his letter, he is referring to his older sister, Guadalupe, who lost her life about 30 years ago in a car accident. She was four and her younger brother was about two and a half years old.

We have to recall that the greatests tennis stars on the planet, like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, Ashleigh Barty, Simona Halep and all the others, will come back for the upcoming Australian Open 2021, which will be held in Melbourne from 8 February: it will be the most awaited sports event of the first part of the new season.

It will be a very spectacualr season, and all of us hope without the problems of the last one, with some presence of the crowd in the courts across the world. Roger Federer, after he said he will not play the Australian Slam, should come back on the court, for the joy of his fans, at the end of February or at the beginning of March.

The new season has yet to begin but there is already a desire to put a disastrous 2020 behind us from all points of view and start the new year with the first Grand Slam of the year in the hope that the pandemic can slowly regress and bring back the planet to live seriously and also allow the world of sport to perform in front of the general crowd.
