The second edition of the collaboration between Andy Murray and Ivan Lendl could not have started better. The world no. 2 won the AEGON Championships for a record fifth time, this past Sunday beating Milos Raonic in the final, in three sets.
Speaking about restarting their partnership to Tennis Podcast, Lendl said that it felt like they had never parted ways. He also went on to add, ‘We understand each other.’ Then analyzing the final against Raonic, Lendl commented, ‘Milos played really well but Andy turned it around, got into a really good groove and started returning incredibly well.’
Speaking about Murray’s preparations in the next few days, Lendl said that the Scot would be resting until Tuesday before starting to work on certain things for Wimbledon. ‘Hopefully the weather will let us do that,’ he added. At the moment, the weather is not so good and only a couple of qualifying matches were played on Monday.
Meanwhile, talking about his win, Murray said, ‘It was great coming out here trying for fifth title. I was really motivated. I was frustrated at a set and a break down. But I started to return better and my serve worked very well the last couple of sets.’
