Returning James Ward looks forward to Nottingham Challenger campaign

Great Britain's James Ward is looking forward to his Nottingham Challenger campaign as he continues his comeback from a knee surgery. The world No. 403 is set to play on the grass of Nottingham after being awarded a main draw wildcard by the tournament organizers.

Ward, 31, is due to make his third main draw appearance at the tournament. The 31-year-old lost to American Ryan Harrison in the last-16 in 2010 in his debut appearance in 2010 before he lost to Russian Dmitry Tursunov in the same stage the year later.

Former world No. 89 Ward failed to kick off his 2018 grass campaign in style as he lost in the Surbiton Challenger first round earlier this week. The Briton has been drawn to meet a qualifier in the Nottingham first round. "I am really looking forward to playing at the Nature Valley Open as I begin my comeback.

After a lingering injury, I have enjoyed practicing on grass these last few weeks and can't wait to be back playing in front of a home crowd at the Nottingham Tennis Centre," Ward said. Also read: Nick Kyrgios congratulates Alex de Minaur on breaking into top-100
