British doubles specialist Jamie Murray was extremely satisfied with the way he and USA's Bethanie Mattek-Sands performed this past week at Flushing Meadows. Murray, 33, and 34-year-old Mattek-Sands handed a straight-set defeat to No.
1 seeds Hao-Ching Chan and Michael Venus 6-2 6-3 in the US Open mixed doubles final to defend their title at Flushing Meadows. Murray and Mattek-Sands dropped two sets in five matches played en route to wining back-to-back US Open mixed doubles titles.
"We played amazing the whole two weeks, played a lot of great tennis. She was so fired up today, played an amazing match. It's always a pleasure to play with her. Really, really, really happy to win again," Murray said during his on-court interview, as revealed by George Bellshaw of Metro UK.
Mattek-Sands, who now has four Grand Slam mixed doubles titles in their collection, praised her partner Murray after the final as she said: "Jamie, you were on fire this whole two weeks."
