The match between Borna Gojo and Hamad Medjedovic, for access to the second round of the US Open qualifying tournament, will be remembered above all for what happened in the stands. The episode in question affected Viktor Troicki, former ATP number 12 and current captain of the Serbian Davis Cup team.

Troicki is also Medjedovic's coach, player who was defeated and won't get the main draw at Flushing Meadows. Troicki is obviously watched his player's match in the box on Court 5. Medjedovic lost a hard-fought match that lasted 2 hours and 23 minutes in the third set.

During the match, a spectator suddenly attacked Troicki and security was forced to intervene, who forcibly took the individual out of the facility. "Clown. He can't stand anyone cheering on his player.

We are talking about the US Open and there are 12 million people in this city. We're loud, okay? Clown. We are in the US, not in fuc/king Serbia." These are the insults, even with a racist background, that the spectator addressed to the Belgrader.

At the basis of the dispute there would therefore be the propensity on the part of the interesting subject to support Gojo, a player who defeated Troicki's player. The former Serbian tennis player did not react violently, despite the fact that the spectator was about to physically attack him at the end, and limited himself to calling the security men to solve the problem.

The tournament staff could do nothing but stop the spectator and escort him out. Below you can watch the video of the fight between Viktor Troicki and a spectator, during the qualification tournament for the US Open 2023 main draw:
