Victoria Azarenka survived a late fightback from American Varvara Lepchenko to power her way into the last 8 at the US Open. Azarenka beat Lepchenko 6-3, 6-4 in 1 hour 37 minutes after playing some dominating tennis.
Azarenka was the more aggressive right from the start, hitting 9 winners along with a solitary ace.
The Belarusian kept the American on the run in the opening set to get a lot of errors from her. Lepchenko on the other hand tried being aggressive but failed to find her range, hitting 12 unforced errors which also led to her serve being broken twice in Set 1.
