Injury forces Ons Jabeur to withdraw from Courmayeur

World No. 8 Ons Jabeur has been forced to withdraw from the Courmayeur Ladies Open due to an elbow injury. After making the Indian Wells Masters semifinal, Jabeur flew to Moscow but didn't impress as she had to retire her opener to Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Jabeur has played lots of tennis recently as she has been battling to earn a spot at the WTA Finals. Jabeur didn't enjoy a great last week in Moscow but she became the first Arab ever to break into the top-10. "I am sad to announce that I won't be able to play in Courmayeur Ladies Open due to my elbow injury.

It's time to recover and to get ready for the next challenges. Thank you for the support," Jabeur said in a Twitter post.

Billie Jean King a big admirer of Jabeur

Jabeur is having her best seasn on the Tour and she is making history for the Arab sports.

King is a big fan of how Jabeur represents her country and the Arab world. "I just knew I should call her,” King said. “I do call players, not just her, or we meet through people, and I just thought it was important.

“She has such a yearning to do well for the Arab people, and that came through really loud and really clear. “She’s trying to represent the Arab people and I’m very big about what you do off the court, not just on the court.

So I think I really admired that part of her. The reason I like it is because it’s always easy when you both think the same way, because I feel the same way, that I’m representing people, I love team play, I love representing my country, I love the fact that it’s something bigger than yourself, and I see that in her; I see that sameness in her that I admire."
