Leylah Fernandez shares pictures from Turks & Caicos vacation

Canadian tennis star Leylah Fernandez flew to Turks & Caicos to enjoy some quality time with her family following a successful US Open run. Fernandez, 19, is enjoying a breakthrough season on the Tour as she ended runner-up at the US Open and she is also enjoying a career-high ranking of No.

26 in the world. Fernandez is staying at the Amanyara Resort. "Leylah shared her knowledge and passion for the game of tennis at the Club House, leading clinics for our guests.," the resort wrote on Instagram.

Fernandez likely out for the rest of the season

Fernandez last played at the Indian Wells Masters, where she lost in the round-of-16.

Fernandez, who said she was unsure of her schedule for the rest of 2021, ultimately pulled out of the Billie Jean King Cup. "Well, up to now there’s nothing going on in my plans,” Fernandez said after the defeat.

“We were going to have a meeting actually later tonight to see what I’m going to do. Representing Canada is an honour. We’ll see. We’ll see what’s to come next. “We’re going to have a meeting later tonight or tomorrow to see what we feel, what my coaches have seen, and we’ll see what’s to come."

Following a third round win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in Indian Wells, Fernandez admitted she is always hard on herself. "I think the whole game maybe technically I was a little uncomfortable," Fernandez said after the win over Pavlyuchenkova.

"Tonight wasn’t the best feeling ball-wise. She was hitting well her targets. I was missing them by maybe an inch or two. That definitely made a difference in the first set. I’m not going to be playing my best tennis all the time.

I know where my level is at during trainings, I know what I can produce on court. I’m always hard on myself, which is good and bad. I’m learning to kind of accept the good and the bad, seeing what I can improve on."
