Elina Svitolina hosts charity event in Kyiv

Ukrainian tennis star Elina Svitolina and her foundation hosted a charity event in Kyiv for the second time. The plan was to distribute all the proceeds to build an international tennis academy for kids. Svitolina is one of the best Ukrainian athletes and she wants to give back to her country.

Svitolina, 27, has been one of the best players on the WTA Tour for several years now but she hasn't yet won a Grand Slam title.

After her season ended, Svitolina split with her long-term coach Andrew Bettles. "After 5 years and 12 titles together!! Andy and I both agreed it was the right time to move our separate ways. I am very thankful for all his hard work and endless support.

I wish him only the best in his future career!" Svitolina announced in a Twitter post.

Svitolina has a great support from husband Gael Monfils.

"I have my coach for that. Gael, he’s more like a supporting person for me, for sure.

We chat a lot about tennis,” Svitolina said. "But, you know, it goes either way. I also support him. He has his coaching team as well. We’re not really coaching each other. It’s more massive support that we have for each other.

That’s pretty much it." Svitolina didn't end the season well as she suffered a shock loss to Camila Osorio in her Tenerife opener. "It was the most important match of my career. It gave me confidence that I can play and compete against the best," Osorio told radio program 6AM after stunning Svitolina.

Osorio was full of confidence and belief in herself after stunning Svitolina. "My goal is not to be Top 10, my dream is to be No. 1," Osorio said. "If I want to be the best I have to improve physically, mentally, my shots—everything I can."
