18 year-old Madison Keys recorded a straight set victory over sixth seed Mona Barthel 6-3, 6-2 to power into the quarterfinals of the Aegon Classic 2013, an WTA International event, in Birmingham. The American held her serve throughout in the first set and converted 1/2 break points to comprehensively grab the first set 6-3.
Keys won 80 % of her first serve points and didn't give a break point opportunity to her German counterpart. In the second set, the big American fired 4 aces and converted 2/3 break point opportunities which she got, and eventually sealed the set 6-2 and showed the door to 22 year-old German, ranked #31 in the WTA rankings. Big win for Madison Keys who is likely to play top seed Kirsten Flipkens for a place in the last-four.
