Ashleigh Barty aiming to lift her first Indian Wells Masters title this March

World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty is looking forward to returning to action at the Indian Wells Masters. Barty, 25, didn't play at the Indian Wells Masters last October. After suffering a shock third round loss at the US Open, Barty decided to return to Australia and spend some time with her family.

The Indian Wells Masters is set to be held once again in its traditional date and Barty is looking forward to playing at the tournament next month. “Indian Wells is definitely at the top of the list when it comes to favorite stops on tour,” Barty said, per Tennis Up To Date.

“The tournament team does a fantastic job looking after the players and putting on a great event for fans. My team and I were disappointed to miss the October event but we look forward to returning in March”.

Barty set for a third Indian Wells appearance

Surprisingly, Barty has only played twice in Indian Wells and she hasn't had any deep runs at the tournament.

Barty suffered a second round loss at the Indian Wells Masters in 2018, before losing in the round-of-16 at the tournament a year later. Barty will be aiming to win her third title of the year in Indian Wells. After winning Adelaide, Barty fulfilled her chuldhood of winning the Australian Open.

“This is just a dream come true for me,” said an emotional Barty shortly after winning her first Australian Open title. “I’m so proud to be an Aussie." The expectations and pressure was on Barty to deliver and she responded impressively.

Barty didn't drop a single set in seven matches played en route to winning the Australian Open. “It was a little bit surreal,” Barty said of that moment. “I didn’t quite know what to do or what to feel." It remains to be seen if Barty can now win her first Indian Wells title.
