Tennis - 28th seed Tamira Paszek has crashed out of the first round of the Wimbledon Championships, twelve months after making the quarter finals for a second year in a row. The Austrian was beaten 2-6, 5-7 by Romanian Alexandra Cadantu in the first round on Tuesday.
The match lasted 75 minutes and Paszek fell under a heap of errors. she hit 40 unforced errors in the match as compared to 20 winners while Cadantu hit 17 winners and 22 unforced errors, Paszek has won only 2 matches on the tour all season long.
Last year, she won the Eastbourne event and reached the quarters in London. With back to back losses at Eastbourne and now London, the Austrian will drop out of the top 100 in the rankings issues after Wimbledon. Cadantu goes on to meet Japanese veteran Kimkio Date-Krumm in the second round.
