Camila Giorgi comments on impressive comeback win over Aryna Sabalenka

World No. 30 Camila Giorgi said she enjoyed playing on Court Simonne Mathieu and added beating seventh-seeded Aryna Sabalenka made it even more enjoyable. 28th-seeded Giorgi entered her French Open third round match versus Sabalenka as the underdog and she didn't make a good start to the match.

However, Giorgi refused to quit as she recovered from a set down to upset Sabalenka 4-6 6-1 6-0. "I think it was a great game," Giorgi said after her victory, per the WTA website. "It was a very good match, and especially out there it's a new stadium, so I think it was just really fun to play there.

Very nice ambiance."

Giorgi impressively recovered after losing the first set

Giorgi faced pressure early on but managed to save two break points in the opening game and avoid going down by an early break. Sabalenka maybe didn't get a break in the first game but kept pressing Giorgi's serve and earned the first break of the match in the seventh game to open a 4-3 lead.

One break of serve was enough for Sabalenka, who served out for the first set in the 10th game. After losing the first set, Giorgi impressively bounced back at the start of the second set as she claimed back-to-back breaks and opened a 4-0 lead.

Sabalenka got one break back in the fifth game to reduce the deficit to 1-4 and that was all from the Belarusian. Giorgi then went on to win eight games in a row and complete an impressive comeback win. Giorgi, 30, is enjoying her best-ever French Open run as she has been through to the last-16 at Roland Garros for the first time in her career.

In the round-of-16, Giorgi will take on Russian Daria Kasatkina. Giorgi and Kasatkina will be going head-to-head for the second time in their respective careers when they meet at Roland Garros. Kasatkina defeated Giorgi in three sets when they met in Lyon in 2020.
