Andy Murray: Emma Raducanu is in situation that is extremely difficult to navigate

Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray says he feels for Emma Raducanu as she is still very young and is definitely in a situation that is "extremely difficult to navigate." Raducanu, 19, made all the headlines at the US Open last year when she became the first qualifier in tennis history to win a Grand Slam.

Since her US Open victory, Raducanu has landed several lucrative endorsement and sponsorship deals as she is now the face of some of the world's leading brands such as Dior, Tiffany, Channel, etc. Apart from being one of the most marketable athletes in the world, Raducanu is facing a great level of expectation and pressure every time she steps onto the court.

For over a decade, Murray was constantly under the spotlight of the British media. However, he never experienced what Raducanu has experienced - to become a major superstar basically overnight.

Murray: Raducanu is not in an easy position

“It’s incredibly difficult," Murray told The Telegraph.

"I never experienced what she experienced, your life changing overnight. It’s impossible to know if everyone who is then involved with you is looking out for your best interests. You know that your family wants the best for you.

The families are of course going to make mistakes, because it’s new to everybody. I would have worked with coaches when I was younger who were not necessarily the right people for me – and management companies, too.

You question, ‘Do they want what’s best for you or do they want to make lots of money off you?’ It’s extremely difficult to navigate”. Murray and Raducanu have a solid relationship as Raducanu has said several times that one of the biggest wishes is to play mixed doubles with Murray at Wimbledon.

When Murray was asked about Raducanu's wish, he said he's open to playing mixed doubles with his fellow compatriot.
