Barbara Schett reveals one thing she would like to see in Emma Raducanu's game

Eurosport tennis expert Barbara Schett feels Emma Raducanu needs to develop her "signature shot" so rivals have something to be afraid of going into their match. Raducanu, 19, hasn't won any titles since her stunning US Open run, but Schett feels the 19-year-old has the potential and can win a Major again.

“When she played that match against Serena Williams, you could see Serena still has those weapons, even though she made a lot of unforced errors because she's not at her best anymore,” Schett said on Eurosport.

“That's what I'd like to see with Emma Raducanu, that she really develops this one shot where everybody is afraid so you can say, ‘ok, this is her signature shot’. She doesn't have that yet. Don't forget she's still only 19 years of age so she still has so much time to develop.

Serena Williams could be the mother of Emma Raducanu. So just give her a little bit of time and I'm sure she has very good opportunities to win another Grand Slam title”.

Raducanu clinched two very impressive wins in Cincinnati

Raducanu has been struggling with her game throughout the entire 2022 season, but in Cincinnati she showed some promising tennis.

In the Cincinnati first round, Raducanu saw off 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams 6-4 6-0. After winning the last seven games in her match versus Williams, Raducanu continued her strong in her following match against another Grand Slam champion, Victoria Azarenka.

Against Azarenka, Raducanu started the match with a stunning 6-0 4-0 lead. But Azarenka avoided a double bagel as Raducanu in the end won 6-0 6-2. Raducanu impressively won 17 games in a row in Cincinnati. After beating Williams and Azarenka, Raducanu suffered a 7-5 6-4 defeat to Jessica Pegula.

Even though Raducanu didn't win Cincinnati, it was still a very promising campaign ahead of the US Open. Raducanu has played three tournaments leading up to the US Open and she seems to be well-prepared going into the final Grand Slam of the season.
