Justine Henin shares advice to Emma Raducanu

Former world No. 1 Justine Henin advised Emma Raducanu to "stay focused on the game" as the Belgian ex-Grand Slam champion thinks that's the key if the 19-year-old wants to achieve more success. Raducanu made all the headlines when she became the first qualifier in tennis history to win a Grand Slam.

A year has passed since Raducanu's stunning US Open victory, but she hasn't won any titles since. "I don't know her [Raducanu] personally. So the fact she changed coach, she changed a lot of things - everyone started to criticise this but I'm not into it really to judge this.

The only thing I say is she needs to be focused on the game if she wants to keep a certain kind of balance in what's happening for her and after winning a Grand Slam of course so much attention, so many solicitations, agents and probably money and a lot of things," Henin told Eurosport.

Henin: What has been happening to Raducanu is quite normal

Raducanu has faced lots of criticism this year but many forget that she is playing just her first full season on the WTA Tour. "We can suppose that it's not easy to deal with at such a young age with no experience.

But you can build, build, build because you are very good, very young and then you start winning Grand Slams early. What happened in the last few months with her was quite normal. I think she will be relieved also once this US Open will be behind her.

How she's going to deal with it, we will see. We can suppose it's not going to be that easy. But I think this game is full of surprises," Henin explained. Raducanu is now set to defend her US Open title as she faces Alize Cornet in the first round at Flushing Meadows.
