Tennis: World no.1 and 16-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams bagged her 54th career and 8th WTA title this year as she defeated Sorana Cirstea of Romania 6-2, 6-0 in just one hour and 5 minutes to win the Rogers Cup title for the 3rd time in Toronto.
Serena was broken once in the first set but she broke Cirstea three times as she took the first set 6-2. She completely outplayed her and bagelled her to win the second set 6-0 and win the title. Sorana Cirstea had played a role of giant killer in this tournament and she had beaten two former world no.1 players and two Grand Slam champions on her way to final.
Cirstea defeated Caroline Wozniacki in second round round, Jelena Jankovic in Pre-Quarterfinal, 2011 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in Quarterfinal and Li Na in semifinal but awaiting her in final was one of greatest female Tennis player ever.
Serena came into final after beating world no.4 Agnieszka Radwanska in semifinal. She had won Brisbane, Miami, Charleston, Madrid, Rome, French Open and Bastad titles earlier this year and had a record of 54 wins and 3 losses this year. Serena had previously won this title in 2001 and 2012 and now she has won it for the third time.
