Emma Raducanu to play world No. 2 in MWTC debut

Emma Raducanu and Ons Jabeur are set to clash at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi. Raducanu, 19, is set to debut at the Abu Dhabi exhibition. On the other side, 28-year-old Jabeur is expected to play at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship for the second year in a row.

Last year, Raducanu was scheduled to meet Belinda Bencic in the women's match at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship. Unfortunately, Raducanu tested positive for COVID-19 just before the exhibition and she was forced to retire.

Now, Raducanu is looking forward to hopefully making her Mubadala World Tennis Championship debut this year. “I am thrilled to finally be making my debut in Abu Dhabi,” Raducanu said, per The National. “I've heard great things about the fans and how supportive they are, and I can’t wait to play in front of them all”.

Jabeur looking forward to playing Raducanu

After Raducanu pulled out of last year's Mubadala World Tennis Championship, Jabeur replaced the Briton and clashed Bencic. In her first match played at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, Jabeur defeated Bencic to become the first Arab to win it all at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

Jabeur enjoyed her experience last year and is looking forward to playing at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship again. “Playing in Abu Dhabi is always exciting,” Jabeur said. “I had a fantastic experience there in 2021 and I don't want to lose the opportunity to defend my championship title this year.

Aside from the match itself, I am most excited to see my fans there – I find them extremely special as they have supported me throughout every competition I have participated in this year”. The Mubadala World Tennis Championship is set to take place between December 16-18.

It remains to be seen if Jabeur can beat Raducanu and win it all in back-to-back years at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship.
