Former 18-time Grand Slam champion Chris Evert congratulated Iga Swiatek on an astonishing season and also told Caroline Garcia that her WTA Finals triumph was definitely deserved. Swiatek, 21, won eight titles this year, including two Grand Slam victories at the French Open and US Open.

Also, Swiatek went on a run of 37 consecutive wins between February and July. "And what a year it was! 8 tournament wins, 37 match streak, 2 majors - dominant. Time for a well-deserved rest! Congratulations," Evert wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, 29-year-old Garcia captured the biggest title of her career after beating Aryna Sabalenka in the WTA Finals final.

"You worked hard for it. Keep going, Caroline Garcia," Evert wrote in another tweet.

After winning all of her three group matches at the WTA Finals, Swiatek suffered a surprise defeat to Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinal.

Following the loss, Swiatek admitted she felt relieved knowing that her season was finally over. "I'm not gonna lie to you, I've been waiting for that moment. Because last week, basically it was pretty hard to see the finish line but still be fully motivated and ready for every match.

On one hand, I'm sad that I lost, but on the other hand, I have one more day off. That's something on the bright side. This season has been so intense and I'm so proud of myself that I could play so well till the end of it. I'm happy that it's done," Swiatek said after her season came to an end.

Garcia, who defeated Sabalenka in the final, couldn't hide her happiness after winning the prestigious “It’s definitely a lot of giant happiness. A crazy final, a lot of intensity on every point. Just really proud of the work we did through all the year.

It was a great match -- really went for it. I’m really happy to win my biggest title," Garcia said after winning the WTA Finals.
