Chanda Rubin acknowledged Naomi Osaka is a very successful young lady and added that motherhood will be "an interesting next step" for the Japanese. Osaka, 25, is a four-time Grand Slam champion and has been ranked at No 1.
In January, Osaka took to Instagram to announce her pregnancy. "It's terrific. So many life changes for Naomi Osaka. She's already conquered the tennis courts. Multi Grand Slam champion and so many other accomplishments. But this is going to be an interesting next step for her," Rubin said on Tennis Channel, per Sportskeeda.
Rubin jokingly to Osaka: Hope your baby will be a good sleeper
Paul Annacone, who also works as a tennis analyst for Tennis Channel, jokingly asked Rubin to give some parenting tips to Osaka. "I don't know if anybody can coach you through this; it's never the same.
Everybody is a little different. Every kid's a little different. All I can say is - I hope your baby's a good sleeper. But this is exciting." Rubin said. In her pregnancy announcement from January, Osaka revealed her plans to return to tennis in 2024.
Also, Osaka hinted her plan is to return to the Australian Open in 2024, where she is a two-time champion. Brad Gilbert, who famously coached the great Brad Gilbert, recently said Osaka has the skillset to make a successful comeback to tennis after giving birth.
"We've seen some players come back after having a baby. I think she has the skillset to be able to come back. It's just finding that love and balance for being there. I think if she can find all of that, I think she can easily get back in the top three in the world and win Majors again," Gilbert said on The Craig Shapiro Tennis Podcast. When Osaka returns to tennis in 2024, she will be 26.
