Alize Cornet told Miyu Kato she had the support of many players and called out Marie Bouzkova and Sara Sorribes Tormo over their actions during a French Open doubles match. On Sunday, Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi were taking on Bouzkova and Sorribes Tormo in the French Open doubles round-of-16.

After losing the first set, Kato and Sutijiadi had a 3-1 lead in the second set when one of Kato's balls inadvertently hit a ball girl. Kato and Sutijiadi were given a warning but then Bouzkova and Sorribes Tormo went to the chair umpire highlighting that the ball girl was crying after the hit.

The supervisor was called and it all finished with Kato and Sutijiadi being defaulted from the match. Some felt that Kato didn't warrant a default and many called out Bouzkova and Sorribes Tormo for pushing for a default.

"Insane decision. I really feel sorry for you, but a lot of players (except Marie and Sara obviously) are supporting you," Cornet said in a response to Kato.

Cornet, Sascha Bajin defend Kato

Coach Bajin, who worked with Serena Williams in the past, also came to Kato's defense.

"No need to apologize. You have to appeal with the ITF. Even if (when) you win the case it’s not the thing you wanted. You worked hard to be out there on court and I’m sorry that that opportunity was taken from you and your partner.

But stay positive and all the best," Bajin tweeted.

On Sunday, Kato revealed the punishment she received from the French Open following the incident. "I would like to sincerely apologize to the Ball Girl, my partner Aldila&Team, & my supporters because of today's unfortunate mishap.

It was completely unintentional. As a result, I am penalized by RG by forfeiting my prize money & points. I appreciate all your continued support!" Kato tweeted.
