Tennis - It's been an incredible season for Serena Williams and it just keeps on getting better. 2 grand slam titles, 7 other WTA titles, wrapping up the year end no. 1 ranking for just the third time in her career and breaking the $9 million barrier in prize money for a season.
And she is not done yet. On Thursday, the 32 year old will aim to win 70 matches in a season for the first time in her career when she takes on Russian Maria Kirilenko in the third round of the WTA China Open in Beijing. Serena currently has 69 wins and 4 losses for the year.
If she does reach the milestone, Serena will become only the fifth player in recent times to achieve the milestone. Here is a look at the others who have done the same since 1995. Martina Hingis - 1997 (71 match wins); 1999 (71 match wins); 2000 (77 match wins) Kim Clijsters - 2003 (90 match wins) Justine Henin - 2003 (75 match wins) Jelena Jankovic - 2007 (72 match wins)
