Patrick Mouratoglou highlighted that he is not the official coach of Cori Gauff and that he only agreed to assist the American during the French Open. Before the start of the clay season, 19-year-old Gauff announced that she and coach Diego Moyano mutually agreed to part ways.

Gauff, who has been a part of the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy since she was 10, then reached out to coach Mouratoglou for assistance during the French Open. “I’m not the official coach of Coco Gauff. Coco is part of my academy since she was 10.

She doesn’t have a coach at the moment. She is going to play Roland-Garros. So I decided, per her request, to spend time with her on the court, to help her at least for Roland-Garros," Mouratoglou told Canal+, per Tennis Majors.

Gauff called Mouratoglou 'a perfect person' for this time

“We started after Madrid, and it was just through the clay season he’s helping me out. I’m going in between coaches, to be honest. I haven’t really found a full-time coach, I guess.

Obviously, he’s still with Holger (Rune). But I have a great relationship with Patrick. I have known him since I was 10 years old and obviously been on the court with him before. I thought he would be a perfect person to help me during this time.

I’m looking forward to the next two weeks with him," Gauff said before the start of the French Open. Gauff, the 2022 French Open runner-up, exited this year's French Open in the quarterfinal after Iga Swiatek handed her a 6-4 6-2 loss.

But after exiting the French Open singles event, Gauff stayed in Paris as she and her doubles partner Jessica Pegula made the French Open women's doubles semifinal. After the French Open, Gauff will turn her focus on the grass season and Wimbledon. It remains to be seen if Gauff will also ask Mouraotglou to help her out during Wimbledon.
