Aryna Sabalenka shares how she feels about Caroline Wozniacki's tennis comeback

Aryna Sabalenka says former world No 1 Caroline Wozniacki returning to tennis after having two kids is "really inspiring." Wozniacki, who recently turned 33, retired from pro tennis after the 2020 Australian Open. This week, 2018 Australian Open champion Wozniacki is returning to pro tennis after three and a half years.

After Wozniacki retired in 2020, she focused on starting a family as she and her husband David Lee welcomed two kids - daughter Olivia in 2021 and son James last year. “I was surprised and super happy. I felt like ‘Ok, you can have a private life, have kids, and come back.’ It’s important for all of us.

We sacrifice a lot. To have examples of people who come back and show there’s a way, it’s really inspiring," Sabalenka said of Wozniacki returning.

When Wozniacki retired from pro tennis in 2020, one of the reasons behind her decision was her desire to start a family.

After delivering two kids and becoming a mother, Wozniacki feels ready to return to pro tennis. In her pre-tournament press conference in Montreal, Wozniacki admitted that being a mother of two young children and traveling around the world won't be easy.

However, Wozniacki remains hopeful that she will be able to find a good balance. "It's not easy logistically with having children and traveling with them and doing all of that, but it's so worth it. Olivia has had a blast so far, these last four or five days we've been here.

I've experienced more of Montreal in these last five days than I have in the many times I've been here before. So it's exciting for me too," Wozniacki said. In the past, Wozniacki was among the best players in the world for many years. It remains to be seen if Wozniacki can return to the top of tennis again.
