Aryna Sabalenka praised Daria Kasatkina's tennis and noted she will need to be "really focused" and wait for the right opportunity when she meets the Russian at the US Open. Sabalenka, seeded at No 2, is set to meet world No 14 Kasatkina in the US Open round-of-16.

When Sabalenka and Kasatkina meet at the US Open, it is going to be their seventh meeting. Going into the match, Sabalenka owns a 4-2 head-to-head against Kasatkina. “Yeah, always tricky matches against her. She’s playing great tennis.

Moving really well. Trying to get everything she can back on that side. I feel like I have to be focused and I don’t have to overrush things against her. I just have to stay calm and just wait for the opportunity and take it," Sabalenka said of facing Kasatkina.

Sabalenka happy with the win that sealed a Kasatkina matchup

On Saturday, Sabalenka destroyed Clara Burel 6-1 6-1 to set up a Kasatkina meeting at the US Open.

“I’m super happy with the performance today. I think I played really great tennis today. Just super happy with this win. I felt good and ready to go. Yeah, I felt pretty comfortable on court today," Sabalenka said after beating Burel.

Although Sabalenka is the second-seeded player in the women's event, she has still yet to play on Arthur Ashe Stadium. Following a win over Burel, Sabalenka admitted she would love to get a chance to play on Arthur Ashe. “I mean, of course I have noticed that.

Of course I would like to play on Ashe. It’s [a] different atmosphere. Louis Armstrong giving me so much support and I like playing there, but yeah, I hope that next match will be on Ashe. No pressure. I feel good on Louis. Feel good on Ashe. It’s, yeah, whatever," Sabalenka said.
