Iga Swiatek's words

Swiatek will be one of the protagonists of the WTA tournament in Beijing.

The Pole spoke at a press conference on the eve of the Chinese tournament: "I hope playing here for the first time will be nice. Honestly I came here for the first time and I don't know what will happen. But I'm really excited to play the China Open.

Let's hope this will be a good week. I think it's a little easier to go back to the mindset of chasing, it's something we've all done our whole lives.

There is only one tennis player at number one and I think it was more difficult to get used to the first position than to chase, this is the difference I have experienced in the last year and a half.

So a different Iga? I don't think it will be much different, I feel that I am going in the right direction anyway and these two weeks between training and matches have been very useful for me. In Tokyo I felt rusty, it's not easy to come back after several weeks of stopping."

On Chinese culture, the Pole tennis player expplained: "Honestly I spent little time in China and I don't know Chinese culture well but I'm curious and I'll see especially at the end of the tournament.

I'm happy to be here, everything looks great. In the next few days I will evaluate this place better, but I have an open and positive mind, I feel really good."
