Naomi Osaka seems to be fully ready for a comeback as the Japanese shared a video in which she can be seen practicing with full intensity and hitting the ball with pure strength and power. Osaka, who turned 26 in October, hasn't played a tournament in a really long time - since September 2022.

This year, Osaka missed the entire season due to pregnancy. In the first week of the 2024 season, Osaka's comeback will start at the Brisbane International. This weekend, Osaka posted the latest training update ahead of her comeback.

Osaka wants to do big things in her post-pregnancy return

Osaka, a former world No 1, won her fourth Grand Slam title at the 2021 Australian Open.

Since then, Osaka hasn't won any titles and she didn't really play much in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. But the time away from tennis has helped Osaka to regain her love and spark for tennis. "She’s super motivated and I’m super pumped to help her.

She inspires the whole team with this champion mindset: she just wants to go for it. I’m hoping her opponents will read this and get a little bit afraid of her! Where she is today is what makes working with her so inspiring.

She wants to get back to world No 1, she wants to win Grand Slams," Osaka's performance coach Florian Zitzelsberger told Tennis Channel. When Osaka returns, she will be playing for the first time in 16 months. “She’s obviously a great offense player, but I think things have changed in the game over the last half-decade where defense is getting more and more important.

We’re working to make Naomi into a player who can transition more effectively from defense to offense. That way, even if she’s getting pushed into a defensive position, she can still strike an offensive shot," Zitzelsberger said.
