World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has confirmed that doing well at the Paris Olympics will be one of her biggest goals for 2024 as the Pole admits that bringing a gold medal to Poland would be "a dream come true." Swiatek, 22, will be making her second Olympic appearance next year in Paris. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Swiatek made her Olympic debut by representing Poland in the singles and mixed doubles events. In Paris, Swiatek intends to compete in the singles event and to also team up with Hubert Hurkacz for the mixed doubles event.

“Yes, for sure [it’s a big goal]. We’re going to have some time to think about that before the clay season obviously. But for now, I’m just thinking about Australia and trying not to go too far because the season is long and a lot of things can happen. But I’m really happy that I have the opportunity to play some mixed doubles with Hubi and to test it out and practise a little bit before the Olympics because getting a medal there would be a dream come true for sure," Swiatek told The National

Hurkacz confirmed in July plans to play mixed doubles with Swiatek in Paris

In July, Hurkacz confirmed he and Swiatek plan to compete in the Paris Olympics mixed doubles event.

"Yes, we will play Olympics mixed doubles with Iga!" Hurkacz said when responding to a fan question on X.

Considering that both Swiatek and Hurkacz are two top-10 players, they would likely be considered among the top favorites for the Olympics mixed doubles title.

"We'll see (laughs). Mix is such a specific game that I wouldn't look at the rankings or the favorites here. You have to fight for every match here, these pairs are so well-matched, with doubles experience, that regardless of whether we are favorites or not, we have to play our best. It doesn't change anything," Swiatek told Przeglad Sportowy a few days after Hurkacz confirmed they would play together in Paris.
