Daria Kasatkina told a female tennis fan to "do research" on who she is actually watching if she indeed prefers watching Alexander Zverev over women's tennis.

On Tuesday, Russian tennis star Kasatkina ripped an Australian TV network for choosing to broadcast Zverev's match against Dominik Koepfer over the Elena Rybakina and Karolina Pliskova match.

Rybakina, the No. 3 seed, and two-time Grand Slam finalist Pliskova was one of the most intriguing first-round matchups at Melbourne Park and the organizers placed it on the Rod Laver Arena. On the other side, Zverev - who is set to go on trial in May over physical abuse allegations made by the mother of his child - was going up against world No. 62 Koepfer on the Margaret Court Arena.

"No women’s tennis shown on TV. They are playing on Rod Laver, prime time and for what. Don’t wanna say who they actually showing now," Kasatkina wrote on X on Tuesday.

Responding to Kasatkina, one person suggested that the Zverev and Koepfer was the match that the majority of the audience wanted to watch.

Responding to that post, one female fan said she agreed with that statement.

"Agree 100%! I am female but have no interest in watching women's tennis if an Australian woman isn't playing. I would much prefer to watch Zverev," one fan wrote.

Kasatkina noticed that comment and bluntly responded: "If you’re a female, then I would advise you to make a research about the guy you wanna watch and think again."

After being issued a penalty order by a court in Berlin and given a  €450k fine, Zverev's lawyers contested the ruling. On May 31st, Zverev's case will be heard on trial.

At the Australian Open, Zverev shut down any concerns regarding the perception of his upcoming trial, stating that "journalists who prefer clicks over the actual truth" are the only ones speaking about it.
