American tennis player Danielle Collins took a cheeky shot at Romanian fans after beating Sorana Cirstea at the Miami Open, blowing kisses their way.

On Monday, home favorite Collins - who is playing her last pro season on the WTA Tour - dismantled 24th-ranked Cirstea 6-3 6-2. By beating Cirstea, the 30-year-old American progressed into the Miami quarterfinal for the third time in her career.

Although the majority of the crowd was on her side in Miami, there was also a group of Romanian fans cheering for Cirstea. In some moments, the group might have gone too far and world No. 53 Collins made sure to let them know she had the last laugh.

How Collins beat Cirstea?

Collins, the 2022 Australian Open runner-up, saved a break point fifth game but also didn't convert her first break point in the following game. In the eighth game, finally the first break of the match was seen as Collins broke Cirstea for a 5-3 lead before serving out for the first set in the ninth game.

Down by a set, Cirstea had a good chance to start the second set with an early break but she didn't convert any of her two break point chances in the second set. The Romanian paid the price for that as Collins went on to claim back-to-back breaks in the third and fifth games and open a comfortable 5-1 second-set lead.

In the seventh game, Collins had a chance to seal the deal but Cirstea saved two match points to end the American's run of five consecutive games and cut the deficit to 2-5. Serving for the match at 5-2, the American experienced some difficulties but managed to close out the match after realizing her sixth match point.

In her next match, former world No. 7 Collins plays against Caroline Garcia, who upset Coco Gauff on Monday.
