American tennis legend Jimmy Connors thinks Danielle Collins is probably "rethinking" her retirement decision amidst a great stretch that has seen her play the tennis of her life.

After losing to Iga Swiatek in a tight Australian Open second-round match, 30-year-old Collins revealed to reporters that she was playing her last on the Tour. Since then, Collins has been one of the best players on the Tour as recently she became a WTA 1000 champion in Miami - won a WTA 500 tournament in Charleston - and she was also a semifinalist at this past Rome Open.

Also, Collins has drastically improved her rankings since the start of the year as she is now the 12th-ranked player in the world

Naturally, Collins' form led to many asking her if she would change her mind. But so far, Collins has been adamant that her retirement decision stays as she wants to fully focus on addressing her endometriosis diagnosis - which is making it hard for her to achieve her motherhood goals.

Connors on Collins: She got to be rethinking that

"The way she’s (Danielle Collins) played the last 6-7 weeks and the results she has had. Her confidence has got to be at an all time high. She’s won a couple of tournaments, she’s been in the semifinals in Rome which is a 1000 tournament," Connors said on the Advantage Connors podcast.

"And going into the French Open, her feeling about her game and her confidence and the way she feels about herself in general. Not just her game but her mental and physical abilities to stay in there and really grind with the best players.

"And I’m happy to see that because she’s kind of struggling mentally with what she wants to do. Is she going to retire? Is she not going to retire? With her success these last couple of weeks, she’s got to be rethinking that."

On his podcast, Connors also praised Collins for staying true to her intentions as the former eight-time Grand Slam noted that "there is more to life than just tennis."
