2023 French Open finalist Karolina Muchova is finally ready to hit the court again as the 27-year-old Czech will be making her post-surgery comeback on the grass courts of Eastbourne next week.

Muchova, who made her first Grand Slam final last year and also achieved a career-high ranking of No. 8 in the world, suffered an unfortunate wrist injury en route to making the 2023 US Open semifinal. Ultimately, Muchova had to surgically repair her right wrist issue and that resulted in her being out for the past 10 months.

But next week, Muchova - who has plummeted to No. 34 in the world - will kick off her comeback and then also make her Grand Slam return at Wimbledon.

"10 months out but finally see you at the tournaments. Eastbourne & Wimbledon," Muchova announced.

Why Muchova ended up being sidelined for 10 months?

After the 2023 US Open, Muchova remained hopeful that a short pause would help her heal her wrist issue. But then, Muchova ended up missing the remainder of 2023, as well as the start of the 2024 season.

Then in February - after months of failing to recover - Muchova announced some heartbreaking news as she was told by the doctors that surgery was the only option at repairing her wrist damage.

"Wrist upgrade: completed! Rehab challenge? Accepted," Muchova announced in February.

"Following my injury at the US Open and an extensive rehabilitation phase, it turned out that a medical intervention was necessary. So here I am, tired and sad, but I know I’ll be okay now. The surgery was successful and I’m gonna do all I can to see you on the court again soon."

Before Muchova went down with an injury, she was playing some of the best tennis of her career and enjoyed some of her best results.

Since Muchova was out for an extended period, it is hard to expect her starting making great results instantly but just staying healthy and gradually lifting her form will be a success.
