World No. 7 Jasmine Paolini may be enjoying the best tennis days of her career and having so much fun on the court but she remains humble and very honestly admits that she didn't believe all of this was possible for her.

After becoming a WTA 1000 champion in Dubai earlier this year - making her first Grand Slam final at the French Open - and breaking into the top-10 for the first time in her career, 28-year-old Paolini has now also been through to her first Wimbledon quarterfinal.

On paper, Paolini's Wimbledon quarterfinal may not seem like a huge achievement. But when taking into consideration that Paolini came to this year's Wimbledon with a 0-3 record at The Championships and that she started this year's grass season without having a main draw win on grass, the Italian's Wimbledon run instantly starts looking like a massive achievement.

Paolini candidly answers if she always believed she'd be here

“That’s a difficult question. I don’t know. I was believing maybe that I could play better than I was doing. But honestly, at this level, maybe not (laughing). No... With this consistency that I’ve had this year... No. I thought maybe, ‘Okay, I’ll have one good result.’ But like this, maybe not... I have to be honest," Paolini said.

On Sunday, Paolini was 2-5 down to Madison Keys in the third set of their round-of-16 meeting before the American suffered a leg injury and ultimately retired at 5-5.

Now, Paolini is set to meet another American as she plays against No. 19 seed Emma Navarro, who upset Coco Gauff on Sunday and is also in the midst of a career-best year.

Against 23-year-old Navarro, Paolini hasn't had any success so far, losing all three of their meetings so far - she lost in San Diego last year and in Doha and Miami this year.

However, their fourth meeting is set to be played on grass and it will be interesting to see if that also brings Paolini her first win over Navarro.
