Tennis - The top two seeds at the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL Open in Acapulco both reached the second round with wins on Tuesday. Top seed Dominika Cibulkova won her first match since reaching the finals of the Australian Ope, beating Poland's Urszula Radwanska 6-3, 6-4.
Cibulkova had lost all three matches she had played since the Australian Open finals. Meanwhile, second seed Eugenie Bouchard defeated former world no. 11 Shahar Peer 6-2, 6-2. Bouchard's countrywoman Sharon Fichman also advanced, knocking off fifth seed Yvonne Meusburger 6-1, 6-3.
19 year old American Madison Keys, who became the highest ranked teenager in the world on Tuesday, went down in three sets to eighth seed Zhang Shuai 6-4, 6-1, 6-4.
