Tennis - Former world no. 1 Jelena Jankovic is through tot he quarter-finals of the WTA Family Circle Cup in Charleston with a win over Croatian Ajla Tomljanovic. Seeded no. 2 this week, Jankovic beat the in-form Tomljanovic 75 61 and next meets Canadian Eugenie Bouchard, who earlier in the day beat Venus Williams.
Speaking after the win, Jankovic commented, "My opponent was very aggressive today. That's the way she plays. I had to stay low and try to get my stride as well. I'm glad I was able to stay strong in that first set.
I missed that overhead on set point, which was frustrating, but I stayed calm and regrouped and finished that set." Jankovic and Bouchard are tied at 1-1 in head-to-head.
