Tennis - Top seeded Carla Suarez Navarro is through to the quarter-finals of the WTA Portugal Open in Oeiras after a double bagel win over Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova. Suarez Navarro won 6-0, 6-0 in less than an hour - the third time in her career she has won a match without dropping a game.
Speaking after the win, the Spaniard commented, "The score looked easy, but the games were difficult. I was playing well and wasn't missing a ball, and I think she was a bit tired after yesterday, so it worked out for me.
This is a good tournament for me. Clay is my best surface and I really love playing here." In other second round matches on Wednesday, eighth seed Elena Vesnina needed more than three hours and saved a match point to beat Serb Bojana Jovanovski, 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(7); qualifier Irina-Camelia Begu upset fifth seed Kaia Kanepi, 6-4, 7-5, and Polona Hercog upset sixth seed Lucie Safarova, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
